The CrossFit prescription is performing “functional movements that are constantly varied at high intensity.” Workouts are typically short—20 minutes or less—and intense, demanding all-out physical exertion. They combine movements such as sprinting, rowing, jumping rope, weightlifting, carrying heavy objects, and many bodyweight exercises; equipment used includes barbells, dumbbells, pull-up bars, TRX bands, kettlebells, medicine balls, and boxes for box jumps. These elements are mixed in numerous combinations to form prescribed “Workouts of the Day”. 40 minute workouts typically include a warm-up, a skill development segment, the high-intensity crossfit workout, and a period of individual or group stretching. Workouts are scheduled at the home of Dr. Pietila in a private workout studio. Call or e-mail for details!
